Step Back in Time & DRIVING Into the Future
Sovereign Hill is a “working Museum” with working/static displays and demonstrations. The Conference organisers are making use of the venue to provide a new and interesting concept for members to participate in.
Conference speakers and demonstrations shall be provided by the venue. Demonstrations could include: close inspection of the stage coaches, wheel wrighting, carriage restoration, saddlery, black smithing and guided tour of the gold mine. Other displays are available for you to visit during your “free time”.
Registration Fee allows you unlimited access to Sovereign Hill and the attached Gold Museum (well worth a visit) over the two days.
Accommodation is on the grounds in either “The Barracks” (single or twin rooms) or the venue Motel. Additional accommodation is available outside of the venue.
Mobility aids are available if required (parts of venue are hilly).
AGM and parts of the Conference are to be held in the Charles Napier Hotel – an interesting authentic building.
To keep costs down for participants, lunches shall not be catered for. Meals are available from several establishments ranging from café to restaurant meals. (The sausage rolls at the bakery are awesome and highly recommended!)
Morning and Afternoon Teas shall be catered for and included in the cost of registration.
A discounted ticket shall be available for those who wish to participate in the sound and light show “Blood on the Southern Cross” on the Saturday night.
Conference Raffle – 1 st prize -American handmade authentic miniature spoked carriage wheel, 2 nd prize $100 gift voucher from Mahbrook Carriages. If anyone would like to donate an item for the raffle please contact the Federal Secretary. Proceeds shall be donated to a suitable cause.
Bus transport is available from Tullamarine Airport direct to Ballarat.
Drive from Melbourne to Ballarat is less than 2 hours.
Train from Melbourne to Ballarat approximately 1-1 ½ hours.
